Commonly referred to as the “Jungle Warfare Training Center” or simply “The Jungle,” Camp Gonsalves is designed to provide realistic and challenging training in a jungle environment. The camp is named in honor of Private First Class Anthony B. Gonsalves, a Marine who posthumously received the Medal of Honor for his heroism during the Battle of Okinawa in World War II.
